[7:00pm, 23 Jan’ 08] Never Give Up on Your Dreams

It’s Yixin, your friendly blogger again! I’m the one in pink! =P

If you are visiting our blog for the 1st time, WELCOME!

Here’s a quick recap of our juicy happenings since last 11 January 2008, Friday…

1st 24-hr Challenge

  • Started on 11 Jan’ 08, Friday, to 12 Jan’ 08, Saturday, a group of 12 graduates from the coaching program, The Courage to Create, decided to embark on an impossible feat – to write, edit, publish, launch and sell a book (Pick Me Up) from scratch!
  • WHY DO THEY DO THAT? It’s because they set out on a mission to remind the world that it is possible to turn dreams into reality!
  • These 12 ppl. quickly formed an operation team and roped in their friends to support. Within that 24-hr, the operation team collected 42 life stories of how these amazing ppl. managed to overcome their struggles in life and make their dreams come true.
  • Within 24 hours, a baby (Pick Me Up Book) was born and launched globally!
  • Over 100 books were sold!!!

2nd 24-hr Challenge

  • The operation team decided to embark on a 2nd 24-hr challenge on 13 Jan’ 08, Sunday 1:11pm, to 14 Jan’ 08 Mon 1:11pm. This time, they aimed to sell 10,000 books within 24 hours!
  • ARE THEY CRAZY OR WHAT? Keep reading…
  • Within 24 hours, this small operation team created miracles. They created NEWS and the WORLD has been watching them since…
  • Within 24-hr, they were featured in My Paper, Channelnewsasia, MediaCorp Stations Channel 5, Channel 8,Channel U, and Suria, as well as Radio 93.8
  • Not only media coverage, they also managed to reach out to 10 million bloggers and social networks Worldwide!!!
  • Sold additional 53 ebooks.
  • Undaunted by their setback of only 53 ebooks, the operation team decided they wanted to tell the World that they will not give up, and they embarked on another 72-hour challenge!!!

72-Hr Challenge

  • This time round, they not just want to remind the world to make their dreams into reality, the operation team decided they wanted to make a difference to the terminally-ill children from Make-A-Wish-Foundation and make these children’s dreams come true too.
  • The operation team wants to donate 60% of all their net proceeds to Make-A-Wish-Foundation to help these kids. As for the remaining 40% of the net proceeds, it would go to a pooled fund to set up a social enterprise to make a BIGGER difference to the society.
  • 38 e-books + 1893 Hard-copy books sold. Featured in Catalog Magazine, IS Magazine, Singapore Radio Station LIVE 93.8, FM 95.8. Secured our first sponsor City Developments Limited (CDL). Website hits reached 10, 563.

    Final Result: 2084 Books

    TOTAL RAISED: S$56,395.60 (Excluding donations)

  • Remember this is the same operation team whom have been working on the 3 campaigns for the entire week. Their lives were disrupted and most of them have jobs or schools to attend. (As for me, I’m a final year undergrad. from SMU. There were days where I had to wear the same clothes for days! OMG! >_< )
  • Still short on their 10,000 books target. HOW???

  • Still committed to the dream of wanting to give the kids from Make-A-Wish-Foundation a BIG RED PACKET during Chinese New Year, the operation team decided to continue the 10,000 book sales GOAL
  • We’re still in the midst of fulfilling this dream.
  • If you have read this far, please support this good cause by either making a donation or supporting us in reaching the 10K book sales GOAL sooner!

Stay tuned to this page. I shall continue feeding you with our juiciest updates!

The last few minutes…

…and this was only the team at SengKang

[2003hrs]The Team Have Been Busy

To all the people out there,

How was your weekend? Don’t some of you find it strange that we didn’t have any post these 2 days?

Truth is, all of us are really maxed out. Especially for the sales team. They are running on overtime to ensure that all payments are cleared so that the books can be out on time for delivery. It seems as though that their hands got glued to either the keyboard or the phone. Dark patches linger around their eyes converting the office to panda-land!!

If you happen to receive a call by them, don’t be fooled by the cheerfulness of their voices. These ladies have really put in their hearts and souls to ensure that the back end is functioning. If you haven’t receive their call, then there are two possibilities.

1) you have made payment (like you should have)

2) you are on the long list of people that they will be calling up soon (so wait awhile more).

On the Internet side, there should be more things coming up, but no promise as the online team is quite stretched. Thank God they are made of rubber and that they are super elastic.

Check in for more updates,

Pick Me Up Team ; )

While we are still tabulating the final results,

I thought I’d entertain everyone with >

>> as you can probably tell, she’s the one who falls asleep at traffic lights

2) Check out>>> We reached 10 million people yesterday!!! says:
i poke my nails into my skin

>> makes you wonder what Eileen would do to her kids in the future. Or husband.

3) -<< J*WaH >>– says:

>> Jannis’s uncertainty in her method obviously shows her high effectiveness rate

4) Alex Tay – After 24 hours, now 10K in 72 hours!! says:

>> …looks like we gota make you do more star jumps, Alex..

think of kelvin’s angry face and his ringing screaming

>> we ought to make him into plush toys and sit him on our work desks.

6) 2008 copies and beyond – THANK YOU says:
lots of Lindt Excellence dark chocolate bars in Madagascar, Cuba and Ecuador flavours, cooking green bean soup for everyone in the wee hours of the morning

>> we all need elves every now and then who cause food to mysteriously appear. No, i’m not referring to Khim in an elven get-up.

7) [TTB] Isaac: Pick me up Pick me up Pick me up. says:
actually, it’s red bull, followed by coke for the rest of the night.

>> Red bull and coke?!!!?

8) Don’t pick him…PICK ME PICK MEEEEE!!! says:
I scratch myself obsessively. And rub my face alot. I don’t know why I do that though ‘cuz it doesn’t really help.

>> If we rubbed your face hard enough, would a genie appear?

9) siong chee says:
do my kungfu kick to stay awake

>> Come to think of it…you do resemble the Donkey in Shrek…….

10) Richard…says:
you pair up with another person and slap each other until both of you wake up

>> You are angry, abusive, masochistic and a danger to the public. Go sit in the corner Richard.

And so, ladies and gentlemen, that was the prelude to our next epidemic hit, “Wake me up”- 1001 ways to go go.

We’re looking forward to being of such huge contributions to the world, forwarding individuals in their effectiveness and efficiency, thus forwarding organizations and industries, changing the motor of the world. Imagine, all that just from a pocket-sized book on 1001 ways to wake yourself up, for a low low price of US$ 59.99 US$5.99. Before we release the results…

I guess you guys would want to know the situation here.

We started out on this project exactly a week ago – write a book in 24 hours, launch it, sell 10,000 copies to raise funds – in 7 days.

In those 7 days, the core team has been working almost non-stop. The other team members spend their waking time here after work and school. Some even put aside work and class just so that they can help drive this mission.

It came to a point where we:
ate when we needed to (after office hours – office hours were too precious to waste!)

slept when we could afford some time (like, on the throne for instance, or at traffic lights whilst driving)

didn’t shower for days

didn’t change for days (probably including under garments but I’m not verifying anything here)

we were too tired to argue with anyone

we were too tired to cheer when food arrived..

…and yet fight for chocolate rations

we’d catch each other staring into space

we’d hear random snores from bodies lying in random corners in the office

we’d fall asleep in the middle of dialogues

we’d hold our pee for the whole day and then remember afterward

we’d do squats while working to keep awake

we’d plea, beg, charm, persuade, argue, enroll people to buy into our cause (just not lie. We don’t lie)

we’d drive to office and forget we even drove

The list goes on. I’d bet every individual has amusing stories to share. In the meantime, we’re considering publishing a second book tittled

“Wake me up”

The last 200m… always the hardest, and the most crucial. Its the point where you decide to run with ALL your might, or just give it up.

It’s the moment that makes or breaks our win in the game. Its the moment that goes down in history as an exclamation of victory, or a silent disappointment that we drag along for the rest of our lives. This is the real challenge that tests the power of the human spirit.

It is almost 2pm, and we have another 189 copies to sell to hit the 2,000 book sales mark.

A war cry rang out, and every DROPPED everything they were doing like a hot potato to make a dash for it. It was as if we all understood how important this is, like an army who have their eyes set on one thing, and one thing only.
